Alumni, come and sail with Hanken Yacht Club!
Hanken Yacht Club invites all Hanken alumni to a fundraiser sailing on Henrik Andersin’s 12mR yacht Blue Marlin. Gather all your classmates and join us for a fun summer day on the sea!
The event will be held on Monday 11th of June and consists of a trip outside of Helsinki, followed by a dinner at Restaurant NJK at Blekholmen. Hanken’s own olympic sailor, the Commodore of Hanken Yacht Club, Camilla Cedercreutz will be joining you on the sea as well.
The price for the event is 500 euros per person. All profit will go to the maintenance of Hanken Yacht Club’s own sailing yacht, an H-boat called s/y Lilla Skumpan. The boat can be used by all Hanken students.
Please note that there is only room for ten alumni on the boat, so you better be quick if you want to catch a place. No earlier sailing experience is required.
What is Hanken Yacht Club?
Hanken Yacht Club r.f. was founded in 2014 and is the official yacht club of Hanken and the student union.
The association has its own sailing yacht, an H-boat called s/y Lilla Skumpan. She is located at Nyländska Jaktklubben (NJK) at Koivusaari in Lauttasaari (Helsinki). The boat can be used by all association members.
Together the members also take care of the boat. That means that as a member you have the possibility to learn to paint the hull of a fiberglass boat as well as see how a 27 feet boat is launched.
Traditionally Lilla Skumpan also takes part in Hangöregattan, a relaxed regatta organized in Finland’s southernmost city, Hanko (or Hangö in Swedish). Come and cheer for team HYC or find the boat at the dock and come party with us!
Additionally, the association aims to organize other sailing events together with for example Aalto’s KY-Sail and Åbo Akademi’s MK Yacht Club.
